2024 Brush Awards

On display from October 2nd: the works of the winners of the Silver Brushes and the Golden Brush!

Illustrations that make you think, that let you walk off the beaten track and lead you towards adventures, and because of this might even invite you to grab a brush or pencil yourself. All of this you’ll find at the Brush-exhibition in the museum’s Gallery.

Every year the Brushes are awarded to the best children’s book illustrations of the past year. This year, eight books were awarded. The museum’s gallery displays sketches, preliminary studies and original illustrations of the winners: from the humoristic and dynamic drawings by Puck Koper, the finny and detailed scenes of Loes Riphagen, the visual poetry of Joana Estrela, to Jeska Verstegen’s dreamy illustrations which draw the viewer into the emotions and discoveries of her characters. Even though the styles and designs of the awarded illustrations vary immensely, they all provide an extra dimension to the story. And piece by piece, they are truly eye-catching!

On display are the works of: Joana Estrela, Yoko Heiligers, Puck Koper, Wendy Panders, Loes Riphagen, Sydney Smith, Hedy Tjin, and Jeska Verstegen.
