Talent in the picture

How to tell a story in pictures? Stroll past the original, personal illustrations of thirteen storytellers from the Venster Academy and get inspired by their works.

For anyone who would like to create their own picture book, graphic novel or drawn journalistic story, illustrator Ellen Vesters founded the Venster Academy in 2022, with the Visual Story course. 

 

After being taught intensively by renowned writers, illustrators, colourists, cartoonists, and designers from the Netherlands and abroad, these students completed their in-depth illustrated-storytelling course in late 2025. This exhibition showcases their work.

 

This exhibition showcases the work of Jessamijn Alberts, Monique van Dongen, Masja de Graaf, Dieuwertje Gordijn, Netty van Haarlem, Fransje Immink, Renske van Leuken, Heidi Lutgendorff, Hannah Muller, Petronella van der Ploeg, Esther Poulissen, Gertrude Steenbeek, Anne Toppen en Erik van Tuijn.
